“Reproductive Rights are Human Rights, inherent to all individuals without discrimination”
Access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights is an imperative entitlement towards the realization and achievement of SDG 3. Access to quality and youth friendly SRHR information and services are a powerful tool for a woman/ young person to make informed and better decisions for her body and family, fight poverty and challenge inequalities.
The United Nations Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) considers Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, not merely the absence of disease and infirmity, in all matters relating to the reproductive system and to its functions and processes.
SRHR education and information.
Provision of SRHR services for example family planning, contraceptives, HIV and STIs/STDs testing and treatment, maternal health care, counseling etc.
Prevention and elimination of harmful and discriminatory practices that violate SRHR of women and young people for instance Female Genital Mutilation and Child Marriages.
Community and Home Based SRH care giving (Care economy).
Capacity enhancement of duty bearers, norm setters, practitioners, champions and all relevant stakeholders.
Elimination of gender-based violence.
Research and documentation to inform effective SRHR policy and programming.
Adolescent SRH education and services including menstrual hygiene, prevention of teenage pregnancies.
SRHR policy and law reform influencing and advocacy.
