ORPHANS AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN (OVC)

Program Objective: We work to promote full development and realization of rights of Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Uganda.

“Providing an enabling environment for OVCs to thrive at home, school and in the communities”

We believe that upholding children’s rights is a principal enabler for a better future. All children should enjoy equal rights regardless of sex, religion, color, ethnicity among others and actions should uphold the best interest of a child.

Guided by the Convention on the rights of a child, the African Charter on the Rights of a child, the Children’s Act and other National legal instruments, UCOBAC implements a number of interventions to promote a conducive environment for the survival, growth, development and participation of vulnerable children and households.

Our OVC Program interventions include;

  • Ensuring that the legal, policy and institutional framework for child protection is developed and strengthened at all levels.

  • Ensuring that orphans, vulnerable children and their families access basic essential services.

  • Strengthening care and support for orphans and vulnerable children.

  • Enhancing the capacity of duty-bearers for OVCs to provide essential services.
