Onying Geoffrey Ottober is a Project Officer for Karamoja at the Uganda Community-Based Association for Women and Children Welfare (UCOBAC), based in Napak District.
He is a social worker with over ten years of progressive experience in the promotion and protection of pastoralists’ land rights in Karamoja. He believes that land rights are a gateway to addressing the root causes of sustainable development.
Geoffrey holds a Diploma and a Degree in Democracy and Development Studies, along with specialized training in Pastoralism and Policy Options in East Africa.
He previously served as a Project Officer – Civil Society Partnership at Oxfam GB under the Karamoja Pastoral Programme, and also worked with Uganda Land Alliance and LANDnet Uganda in Karamoja.
He is an award-winning advocate, having received the International Land Coalition Award in 2012 for his story titled “Protecting Communal Land Using the Provision in the Law.”
