Brenda Kawala

Kawala Brenda is a 22-year-old Ugandan from Iganga District, currently volunteering with the Uganda Community Based Association for Women and Children’s Welfare (UCOBAC). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Community Development and Social Justice from Kyambogo University (2023), with academic training in community organizing, human rights and social justice, gender equality, and environmental and disaster management.

Brenda gained hands-on experience during her internship with the Tororo Local Government, where she supported the implementation of the Youth Livelihood Program and the Parish Development Model. She has also been actively engaged with organizations such as Girl Up Initiative Uganda (She Leads Project), Nile Girls Forum, NIYETU, and the Mastercard Foundation. Through these platforms, she has advocated for youth and girls’ participation in decision-making and contributed to peer-led movements and awareness campaigns on sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Her experiences have equipped her with strong competencies in public speaking, leadership, advocacy, counseling, and problem-solving. Brenda is passionate about working with communities and vulnerable groups to create lasting, positive change.
