Child Care and Protection
Under our Children Rights and Protection Program, we promote the full realization of rights and well-being of children in Uganda. The program focuses on creating a safe, inclusive environment where children can thrive at home, in school, and in their communities — while ensuring their voices are heard, respected, and included in matters that affect their lives.
About the Children Rights and Protection Program
Objective: To ensure the protection, care and holistic development of all children by strengthening child protection systems that uphold their rights, promote their well-being and create safe, nurturing environments
In our Child Care and Protection Programme, we focus on strengthening child protection systems by equipping communities especially caregivers and service providers with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to uphold children’s rights and ensure their safety, participation, and holistic development.
We prioritize listening to children and ensuring their voices are meaningfully included in decisions that impact their lives particularly those in vulnerable contexts such as poverty, displacement or abuse.
Through collaboration with families, local leaders, and child protection actors, we aim to build safe, responsive, and inclusive environments where every child can grow, thrive and be heard.
Our approach is grounded in the belief that sustainable child protection begins at the community level. We work closely with local structures such as community based child protection committees, schools, and health centers to strengthen referral pathways and enhance early identification and response to child protection concerns. We also conduct awareness raising sessions and capacity building workshops for children, parents, teachers and community leaders to foster child friendly attitudes, prevent violence and promote positive parenting practices.
