Our Programs

UCOBAC partners with a wide range of stakeholders in Uganda and beyond to create lasting change in the lives of vulnerable communities. Through innovative and inclusive programs, we support young people to thrive in education and transition into meaningful, dignified work—while also promoting the rights of orphans and vulnerable children, advancing women’s land and property rights, and fostering climate-resilient livelihoods.

Our programming is guided by a deep understanding of the needs and aspirations of women, children, and young people. By focusing on areas with the greatest potential for equitable and lasting impact, we ensure that our interventions in child protection, land rights, climate resilience, and youth empowerment create meaningful change.

Together with our partners, we work to identify and respond to the needs of vulnerable women and children through rights-based programs that promote their welfare and dignity. We strengthen grassroots organizations to mobilize resources, develop local solutions, and advocate for inclusive policies—empowering communities to drive lasting, sustainable change.

Our programming seeks to: promote the rights and welfare of vulnerable women and children through inclusive, community-led initiatives. We strengthen grassroots organizations to mobilize resources, transform harmful social and gender norms, and influence equitable policies. Our work also supports secure land rights, access to essential services, and the development of climate-resilient livelihoods for long-term community sustainability.

Children Rights and Protection

The Children’s Rights and Protection Program promotes the full realization of rights and well-being of vulnerable children in Uganda. It focuses on creating a safe, inclusive environment where children can thrive at home, in school, and in their communities. Guided by national and international child protection frameworks, the program ensures access to essential services, strengthens care and support systems, and builds the capacity of duty-bearers to safeguard and uphold children’s rights.

Women's Land and Property Rights

The Women’s Land and Property Rights program (WLPR) aims to promote equitable land rights by strengthening women’s tenure security and decision-making. It tackles discriminatory norms that hinder women and girls from owning or controlling land and productive resources. Through strong community support systems, capacity building of land actors, and gender-responsive land registration, the program empowers women to access, use, and defend their land rights—driving sustainable livelihoods, food security, and gender equality.

Climate Change and Resilient Livelihoods (CCRL)

Under the Climate Change and Resilient Livelihoods (CCRL) program, we aim to build the capacity of communities – especially women and rural populations—to withstand the effects of climate change on their livelihoods. Recognizing the gendered impact of climate crises, the program promotes climate-smart agriculture, agroforestry, and community-driven adaptation practices. It advocates for inclusive policies, invests in local knowledge, and supports resilient planning to enhance food security, protect ecosystems, and reduce vulnerability to climate shocks.
