Our approach

UCOBAC’s pathway for change stimulates a bottom-up approach through empowering those at grassroot levels to influence and cause change in a way that spreads from local, to national, regional and global levels. We do this through grassroots organizing and empowerment for sustainable development. We believe that effective development occurs from grassroots – up.

We empower grassroot communities to overcome development challenges and inequalities through collective organizing to mobilize resources, map priority needs/challenges, develop community development practices, transform discriminatory social and gender norms and practices and influence public policies and practices at local, national, regional and global levels. We capitalize on existing social networks, institutions, structures, platforms and alliances to collaboratively influence change and spur sustainable development. UCOBAC is a membership organization comprising of over 100 organized grassroots women’s organizations and groups
